Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

At the rise of electronica, Hooman started spinning in college in 1988. After graduating he opened Spinmasters DJ Supplies, the first DJ supply shop in Dallas, TX. Customers like Maceoplex and Thugfucker were regulars. His store manager, Arnold Velasco now works with Erica Badeau and his record buyer (and former roommate) JT Donaldson is a well known producer. With the emergence of the 90s rave scene, Hooman started promoting some of the first undergrounds in Dallas. Tolerating working in tech and surviving a shitty marriage, he opened BPM records with Jordan Wollman and Stefan Weise and co-produced tracks such as Mad World (Stefan's Journey Into Madness Mix) and Depeche Mode ?– Strange Love (Starfire's Strangefire Mix). He knew opening a record shop in 2004 was a losing battle but he just wanted an excuse to stay out of the house till’ late to make sure the wife was asleep. His most recent collaboration was with Trey Courtney (Treyco) remixing George Kranz’s Din Daa Daa. Today Hooman happily lives and plays in San Francisco.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I grew up listening to "new wave." The 80s was a time of color and alternative lifestyles. I particularly enjoyed Missing Persons, Blondie, David Bowie and Depeche Mode. As a nerdie kid who loved computers, I vicariously lived through them. After a stint of acid house (Maurice) and later hip-hop, I dove headfirst back back electronica and began investigating deep house. After discovering Burning Man, I became a lifelong Burner and connected passionately with the sounds of the desert. Today I am heavily influenced by Be Svendsen, Nico Stojan, Nu, Rampue and Satori.

What´s new right now?

I play sunrise sets whenever possible around San Francisco whether it be a renegade party or in the great outdoors. There is something magical about hearing melodic house as the sun rises or sets.
