Rotten Copper

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My names is Steve Cefala. I am an underground rock/ metal musician, having played multiple instruments over the past 20+ years.

My first band, Pale Existence, which I started while back in HS (1993) featured Lorin Ashton (Bassnectar) and Bud Burke (Exhumed). We opened for major acts, including Fear Factory and Incantation, and did a record split with Exhumed at a very young age. My second band, Dawning, (also from the 90's) was a unique sounding black metal band, which was listed as influential by bands including Noothegrush and Dispirit. Dawning had a record pressed eventually also (on a small French label).

My new band Rotten Copper is more eclectic hard rock / heavy metal, in the vein of classic Motorhead, Danzig, and Iron Butterfly.

How would you describe your style and genre?

Metal and rock have stagnated in the contemporary arts. It is my goal to return metal and rock to their early true roots, while providing a path forward musically for others. The genres and the 'artists' in metal have suffocated the art itself with their narrow concepts and in their absurd attempts to avoid any mainstream-ality . And the day of reckoning has come for the whole thing to burn down, like a giant Wicker Man.

Who are your biggest influences and idols … and why? Do you have any idols? Are you a super fan of anyone? (Dead or alive, musician or non-musician)

Danzig, Motorhead, and the Iron Butterfly are the kings of rock and metal because they sing and play with balls.

What´s new right now? What should our readers know about that is coming up from you?

Here is where you can hear my new full length album:
It is about a futuristic road trip by wasteland bikers. On their journey they encounter a host of enemies.
