Sam Sky – Paraiso Recordings

Check out and share our Sam Sky – Paraiso Recordings Interview. This interview is part of our new Producer & Engineer Q&A Series. In this interview series we feature exciting producers, mixing and mastering engineers from all walks of life. As always: Share & Support!

Please introduce yourself real quick. Tell our audience about your background and how you go into doing what you´re doing right now.

Growing up in the San Francisco Bay in the 90's I was around all the original Rave crews before the scene became the massive monster it is today, It was at a Rave where my journey began. One of my best friends at the time took me to a warehouse party and I had heard some house and techno prior but stuff that was played on the radio. BUT when I walked into a warehouse party damm! the bass just ran through my nervous system and I was hooked! I can't recall what party it was, I was only a Junior in High School… maybe 400-500 people and it was dope. In SF the krews that dominated were Funky Tekno Tribe, House Collective, and Wicked to name a few. I also would go down to LA on a frequent basis to attend the Go Ventures and Together as One parties. Those were always dope and bring back memories. Musically SF was more funk and disco based while LA was a little more aggressive which gave me a foundation and kind of my sound you could say. I have been 20+ years in the scene and I am glad to still be involved and witness the growth we are having now. Allot of good stuff coming from my label Paraiso Recordings and my house family. I am bringing back some legends to the scene and many up and coming Artists. It is very exciting and I am thankful to God for the opportunity and the support we get from everyone.

Please tell our audience what projects have you been working on in the last years?

In 2016 I hooked up with Joris Dee on a few projects [through Tony Soul linking us] and as a trio we slammed the charts on those projects. One being "America" a Techno banger where we featured Tony Soul, and things just worked so well we launched Paraiso Recordings shortly after that. Joris and I use our resources, me being in SF and him in Germany we kind of bring it all together. Mark Lawrence at Blackrock gave us the platform and here we are. Our first track launched I brought my bro NYC legend Anthony Poteat to do some vocals for me and we hit Top 25 out the gates. Track was called "Our Music". To this day it has that fresh sound I think. I love listening to it and loved making it. I also work regularly with several labels such as My Own Beat Records, Marba, Fett Recordings, Nervous, and Groove Ventures to name a few. As far as Genres I can never stay still, I go off inspiration and depends what the project is. Several times I have been in the middle of working a song then be presented a remix project and fall in love. I just go with the flow. Whatever makes dance floors shake.

What are you currently working on? Do you accept clients and and what kind of projects/work fits your profile?

I am always working on something. This past year I have been working on more vocal and soulful genres but again I am always presented with projects that just floor me and I am back in the techno arena! jajaja I am always open to working with people. I just wrapped up a beautiful house track with New York City's Michelle Rivera and Eddie Eaze can't wait for your guys to hear it.
