Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Greetings! Here is Shaolin Dubz, dj and selector from South Spain totally focused on soundsystem music, like reggae dub and jungle. My identity sign is the steppers mix with 3 decks. I have my own label (Rude Klub Recordings), where I contact with artists of bass music scene around the world and they share their music, and I promote soundsystem dances in my city, Granada, where me and my teammates outta Granada Dub Family bring the vibes once a month.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
From the beginning, my influences have been based on the passion for the soundsystem and the music that comes from it: concepts like 'free party' or reggae and its electronic derivatives have always been present in my musical career. Within this great influence, my tastes have changed: always looking for the root, the purity and the depth. Now on focused on deep dubstep, steppers and ragga-jungle: part of the electronic side of reggae but always enjoying roots music.
What´s new right now?
Every year I usually publish a dub or jungle mixtape, so I'll soon start working on a new one. I recently bought a Hohner Student 32, so I also want to start playing the melodica and learn to produce music.
And about gigs… people from Andalusia can catch me playing easily because I usually play every weekend there; but in March I travel to Bristol to play, so I hope that on Friday the 2nd they will be ready for my best raggajungle dj set!
