Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hey everyone, I'm shoki aka Orion. I've been producing music for a little over a year now and I also sing and rap. I started producing at mid-2016 and have been practicing and getting better ever since. I started off just uploading beats to soundcloud but eventually started rapping over my own stuff. I moved on into producing my own beats because rappers weren't using them and I just started rapping over them myself. I've produced for SCARLXRD and a couple other popular artist on soundcloud, but I have a very big song coming with someone that everyone knows, but I'm not going to reveal that just yet. My most popular songs are the ones that I rap in, so I kind of took a break from just uploading beats to soundcloud… I never took any classes for music theory or ever played an instrument, the only music experience I had was singing in my school's choir. I've always had a love for music but never had the motivation to learn or try it, but I eventually started watching youtube tutorials on how to make beats and I got better from that.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I first started out making music with a friend for fun, we tried remaking the style of $UICIDEBOY$, Lil Peep, and many other popular underground soundcloud artists at the time. It was pretty awful to be honest, so I started moving onto my own style and making different genres of music. My biggest influences now producer wise is probably Bighead, TM88, Southside, and other big named producers. But artist wise, Playboi Carti, Migos, Future, Ski Mask, and XXXTENTACION are probably some of my biggest influences.
What´s new right now?
I have a couple of projects that I am currently working on that will be released throughout the year. I have plans on releasing my own self-produced EP that will consist of me and a couple of features. It's currently in the works. I've honestly just been grinding on producing and working on getting placements lately, so I've been sending out beats like crazy lately. I have a couple of big placements that I will be exciting to announce very shortly, but for now, I'm going to keep them a secret.
