My name is Skylark, a rapper, producer engineer, and part of the conglomerate Sematics. Based in New York State, we represent elements of the Golden Age of hip hop mixed with the modern genre to deliver tunes that appeal to a wide range of listeners. Through work with all different kinds of musicians and artists throughout New York, I'm hoping to mature my sound and find my style while continuing to pump out songs.

What do you do?

Besides rapping, production is an element that I've had to take control of myself, there not being enough people around making beats to throw around to whoever. Through making my own beats, I started just recording my own shit and have slowly worked my way up to being solid with engineering, helping out a lot of the musicians I've met along the way.

What´s new right now?

Right now I am working with a lot of modern style integrated with ethnic instruments around the world. I got obsessed with the sound of classic Japanese instruments, mainly the Koto and the Shakuhachi flute. Eventually, I got the hang of mixing it and have been able to drop full solo tracks using what I've learned. I figured it's better to not just practice old school flow and expand into new territory like in the link below:
