Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I'm Spectrum514, an independent music producer from Montreal, Canada. Growing up, music was always a big part of my life, but it's only in the past two years that I really got into EDM. I started fiddling around in a DAW one day and my new passion was born. It's taken over my life. When I'm not working on my tracks, I'm listening to others. It's amazing how, nowadays, just a simple computer and a bit of software can allow you to express yourself artistically to the whole World. I started sharing my tracks on Soundcloud a few months ago and have since been played almost 10,000 times. My track "The Guard" got featured on the HBT Magazine website and my remix of Not Your Dope's "Indestructible" became my most popular release with over 3,500 plays and counting.

For someone who just did this as a little hobby, it's been very flattering. I hope to continue this amazing hobby and keep putting new music I'm passionate about out into the world for people to enjoy. Hopefully it can resonate with some.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
It's hard to put a label on things sometimes. I don't consciously try to stick to a certain genre or sub-genre. I just make music that makes me feel something and I hope that it makes others feel the same as me. That being said, I suppose I am influenced by what I listen to and my tastes are a little all over the place. I'd have to say I have a special connection with future bass and chill-trap. Some of my favourite artists include Louis The Child, San Holo, Snavs, Flume, RL Grime, Porter Robinson, Kaivon, Point Point, Illenium, Above & Beyond, Steve Void and many more.
What´s new right now?
Right now I have a little collection of tracks I'm working on. I plan on trying to get them released by a more established network or maybe even a label if I can. However, juggling my day job with my hobby is not always easy. It definitely slows the process down a bit. But, I hope to release those tracks in the coming months for people to hopefully enjoy. I'm also working on getting some great local vocalists involved in some projects. Hopefully I can add some cool vocals to some tracks in the future.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?
I"m a huge fan of Louis The Child. I fall in love with every track they create and their live performances are always an amazing show. They kind of got me into EDM. I started listening to them before I got into EDM and haven't stopped since. I first discovered them by hearing "It's Strange" on FIFA and it's really that track that pulled my attention towards EDM.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
The biggest mistake for me when I started out was probably a lack of patience. I was so into creating my own melodies and sounds that I didn't take the time to always complete and master my work. Also, when picking a certain synth for a certain drop, it can be easy to just pick one and go with it. However, I learned that a bit of patience and extra work can make a track so much better just by fine tuning the little details and making the best sound to go with the melody instead of just relying on the melody. So my advice would be to be patient and take your time with your tracks.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
The biggest challenge right now is juggling a full-time job with my music production. But, when it's something you love to do, it's easy to find time for it. Some days I'm a little bit tired and don't feel like working on one of my tracks, but I don't procrastinate too much because I enjoy doing it.

We meet again in one year. What has changed?
In a year from now, I hope to have more releases and spread my music to as many people as possible. My craft is still growing and I'm still learning and I hope to continue evolving as an artist.
