Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
My name is Static, born and raised in a neighborhood called Pilsen in the lower west side of Chicago. I make Juke/Footwork music. I'll occasionally step out the 160 tempo to make other genres. I grew up on house and ghetto music because my mom would always blast it every Sunday morning to clean the house. She's latin, she didn't know nothing of what she was playing and what the lyrics were saying due to her language barrier at the time. She never knew how much of an impact it would have on me. I could not get away from the ghetto sounds. In the 5th grade I would hear this certain mix on repeat for the next 2 or 3 years not knowing what it was but I fell in love. When I went to Benito Just High School, I started DJing for the fun of it. I didn't get into making music until a year after I started DJing. Once I learned DJing and what genres we're, I discovered that the mix I was listening to was a Juke mix. To this day I can recite every lyric on that mix lol. Since then it's been history.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My biggest influences since I started making music was DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn, DJ Pillsbury, DJ Remi, DJ Clent, Dannyjamz, and Umbertron. You can't go to a party without hearing most of their songs playing in the set. I was humble enough to meet DJ Rashad when I opened up for Traxman. Umbertron always had those hard hitting bangers and that certain sound you don't hear anymore.
Dannyjamz was an upcoming Juke producer that would flip any new track that would come out on the radio. He eventually became a mentor to me and my best friend.
My taste in music have definitely expanded but the old school sound of juke/footwork will always stay with me.
What´s new right now?
I've been making songs when I can now especially since my laptops isn't working. I relay on my sister's laptop when I can. I have a couple tracks I would like to release in 2018 but we'll see how things go. Here's a link to all the music I made in 2010 up until 2015
