Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I'm Steve Britton, a London based electronic music producer. I have been producing music for roughly 10 years now. I run a small record label and used to run a micro-festival every summer called UV Festival where everyone got painted up in glow in ultra-violet paint and danced until sunrise. It was amazing, but unfortunately we didn't see eye to eye with the local council so we had to stop.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I grew up listening to heavy metal and playing guitar in rock bands, so my tastes have definitely changed over the years. Having said that, there is a huge amount of cross-over between electro and rock music, listen to Justice and you can hear how they were inspired by Metallica and Led Zeppelin. I got into techno and progressive house at university and those were my formative years of discovering electronic music. My current influences are pretty varied – Eric Prydz, Alex Metric, Jon Hopkins, Stephan Bodzin and my current favourite artists Kiasmos. I try and incorporate elements of all those artists into my music.
What´s new right now?
I have a series of EPs that will be coming out next year on my record label, building up to an album in the summer. There will be an album party in Deptford to celebrate that, I also put on a night every 3 months at Deptford cinema as we can project visuals on a giant screen while playing at the same time. I doubt many people have been to a rave in a cinema, it's weird but great fun so people should keep an eye out for when we announce the next dates.
