Subterranean

Read the Subterranean Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I am a producer/performer from Pittsburgh, PA and I focus on heavy bass sounds. I have played the regional festival circuit such as Fantasyland and the Big Dub Festival. I have headlined shows such as Dead World in Detroit, opening for Dara, and have been featured in Hard Data Magazine and LA Weekly. I have worked for the past few years as a content creator for BassGorilla, making sample packs, presets, video tutorials and mastering tracks. My original productions have been promoted by Hybrid Trap, Drop Central, Absolute EDM and Wobblecraft. My fast mixing skills, track selection and energy on stage are what makes my DJ sets unique and keeps people asking for me.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My productions are predominantly influenced by Bass Music genres like Dubstep and EDM Trap. I work with a strong sense of melody combined with aggressive and energetic bass drops. My tracks are cleanly mixed and mastered with a loud and punchy sound. I have also branched out into other genres in more recent years, such as producing Trap and Hip Hop beats, where I bring my unique touch to the popular Hip Hop sounds.

What´s new right now?

I'm looking forward to upcoming Detroit shows in April, and I've just had my recent "Phroso" promoted by Hybrid Trap and Rapture Studios. Be on the lookout for more Subterranean tracks coming this year!

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

Yes. Renard from Lapfox Trax is my favorite musician of all time. Renard was the first electronic artist I got into and I'm always impressed by their work.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

The biggest mistake I made was I didn't try to promote my music enough. My songs were more of a personal thing, which is fine, but I would advise producers who want to make it big to try and spread the word as much as they can.

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?

I use various social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and VK. I release my music through labels and music promoters. I would suggest other musicians use various social media platforms like I do, so they'll have a bigger audience reach. You can also join groups on social media with musicians and like-minded music fans.

Do you have insights on how to grow your audience on soundcloud that you want to share with our audience?

Try to interact with your fans. That will make them want to keep listening and supporting you, and they'll want to mention your music to their friends more often.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

Producing different types of tracks and finishing them. I'm used to making heavy bass music and Dubstep, so when I try something new there's a bit of a learning curve.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?

Give your track a little bit of time. Let it go and then come back a week or more later when you have new ideas. Listen to a lot of similar music to get ideas on how the bigger artists finish their tracks.
