Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I am a Music Producer, Engineer, and Artist based out of Dallas, Texas. I started out making music in FL Studio seven years ago, but I transitioned to Pro Tools for my music production about three years ago. I graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a degree in Music Business which is where I learned how to be an engineer. After graduating, I began working on a number of projects and became a contracted background music composer for DL Music, a publishing company in Los Angeles. When I am not busy composing music for television shows, producing another artist, or engineering, I am working on my own projects as an artist. I have some music I am working on right now so be sure to follow my social media to stay updated.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I started out listening to jazz when I was a little kid. Over the years I transitioned to hip hop and rock, and then I got into EDM when I was in college. I am a military kid so I have experienced different kinds of people around the world. Diversity is what has influenced my music over the years due to the different genres of music I have experienced, military background, the many places I have been to, and my knowledge in music theory. I am always trying to do something different and experiment with different ideas.

As far as who I listen to currently for influence, I am a big fan of Madeon, Porter Robinson, and Zedd for the melodic elements they incorporate their songs. Krewella, Aero Chord, and most recently Skan are my favorite to listen to for trap music. Skrillex, Deadmau5, and Reflekt are a few other artists I also listen to.

What´s new right now?

I just released my first official EDM track called Monsters which I produced, mixed, and mastered myself.

Before I made Monsters, I made a Chill Trap song which is currently licensed with DL Music.

I have no official releases to announce at the moment but I am currently working on a new song, composing music for a future musical that is in the works, as well as working with artist Monica Saldivar, winner of Tejano Idol 2015.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

Honestly I have not had any big mistakes. I just had about four to five years of trial and error until I finally got to a point I felt good about what I was doing. Then I continued to improve and never stopped learning. Going to college helped to reduce my chances of making mistakes as well. Number one advice I can offer to newcomers is to never let anyone keep you in a box. I had some people early on that attempted to keep me in a specific genre and discourage me from experimenting. Do not let them do this to you. You are free to express yourself so make whatever you want. Someone out there will like what you do.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

Experiment with making your own samples, especially for drums. Drums are key to music and if they sound too similar to other songs, it can take away from your own song when everyone else is using the same samples. Combine a snare with a sample of someone biting an apple, or a combine the top end of your favorite kick with the bottom end coming from you recording yourself hitting your fist on a table and see what interesting results you can come up with!

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?

Take a break and go do something else. Sometimes you need to take your mind off of your song so that when you come back to it, you have fresh ideas.
