Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Im Tomas Kangasoja a Swedish DJ, Turntabalist and Remixer. I have been djing proffesionally since 1987. I started playing with vinyl but switched to CD around 1995, I went back to vinyl around 2009 and currently prefere vinyl or DVS, as far as possible. I run a vinyl dj agency in Sweden (www.vinyldjagency.se) where the focus is on giving the customer a greater experience by highlighting the craft more and showing djs who actually work with their mixes. My love for the vinyl made me never really stop buying vinyl and has over the years created a collection containing everything from old classic to newly produced dance music. It's fun that vinyl has gotten such a big boost in recent years, and people appreciate more this craft than ever before. In the 2012 when I was to attend a festival, I was looking for more vinyldjs who could dj on vinyl. (Not Traktor or Serato) That would work with me on stage. I searched in many forums online but received only one answer. "What you are looking for is a time machine". ? But this has changed, and today it is much easier to find good wine tasting that you can cooperate with.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I love music, and my influences are funk and disco. I noticed when I turned 40, that I'm not a 40 year old white man but in my head I feel more like a 60 year old black man. ? I love beautiful basslines and that's what I listen to as I review all promotion records that are sent to me. If the bassline is good then I keep on listening to the track. If not, im not using it. I think that if you spend a lot of time and energy getting a good baseline, you've often put a lot of work on the rest of the song too.
When im djing i play everything from party tracks to heavy club music. But i prefere to have some funk/disco feeling in my djset.

What´s new right now?

Right now im work hard on my vinyl dj agency, but im still touring as a dj and does a few gigs each month mainely in Sweden. I also spend a lot of time in my studio prepering edit and remixes for my dj-sets.
