Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hey guys, my name is ToonSquad. I started this project about 2 years ago and within the past year it's really taken off. For those of you who don't know me, you can check out my music here https://soundcloud.com/toonsquadmusic. A lot of people ask me why I chose the name ToonSquad, its actually kind of funny. Me and my then girlfriend would always go to shows and festivals and notice everyone walking around in their Space Jam jerseys. I was like "how dope would it be to do a show with the whole audience in these jerseys".
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My influences haven't changed at all since I started making music. Most of these guys don't make my style of music, but I love their drive and their hardwork. My influences are Kayzo, Ookay, Mo Shalizi, and Said the Sky. Love their passion for the industry and their music.
What´s new right now?
Everything is new right now! I just signed to my first three festivals, my new original 'Follow You' is on the New and Hot "Electronic' charts on SoundCloud, I've signed with an awesome management group…things could not be going better!

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?
I'm a super fan of Kayzo. I'd say that in I've read about he went from having no music experience to absolutely killing it in the industry. It just shows with the right passion you can do anything.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
My biggest mistake was releasing EVERYTHING I made when I first started. Once you start getting better you'll realize that your early stuff usually sucks and nobody wants to hear it haha.

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?
I let my management handle that. I'm blessed to work with an awesome management group (Heartless Management). They literally do so much for me I can't thank them enough.

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?

Do you have insights on how to grow your audience on soundcloud that you want to share with our audience?
Find the RIGHT PR group. There's so many crappy promos on SoundCloud. Verify everything before you pay for it.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
The biggest challenge for any producer is getting noticed. What has worked for me is just making great music, not spamming people, and grinding. At the end of the day, your music is what gets you noticed.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
Always be looking to improve. There's no reason that you can't get better with all the tools that are available. YouTube is everyone's best friend, but for example if you don't know music theory (which I don't), download Hook Theory. Always be looking for ways to get ahead.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?
Have a good unit of friends that you can send your music to and bounce ideas off of them. If you don't have any friends in music and you're stuck, take a couple days to clear your head and then come back to it. There's no rush.
