Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hello, my name is Kyle and I am the man behind the alias Transient. I am an Australian that grew up in The States and now calls Amsterdam home. I enjoy strong cups of percolated coffee accompanied with a high grade spliff. Like my humor, I prefer my music dark and generally despise modern commercial music. I mainly produce Drum and Bass that is a bit left of center. Last year saw my first vinyl release on Lossless Music, which not only received some airplay on Noisia's radio show, but further perpetuated my sense of ego and self worth in ways I'm not sure I'm comfortable with.

I also run Haunted Science in Amsterdam, which specialize in providing the drum and bass scene with an alternative to your standard jump up or neruo nights.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I was heavily influenced by the first parties I went to in LA around 2000. The scene was so big, full of innovative music and parties. Warehouse raves with thousands of people that played the most experimental music you could find at that time. The mission just finding the party, the lawlessness, the rawness of the music, It all really spoke to me and it continues to influence what I put out, not only musically but also event wise. My tastes have changed as time goes on. I'm not as into neuro as I once was. I'm finding I'm enjoying break heavy tunes more again, as well as some of the darker minimal stuff, but that's the great thing about drum and bass imo, it keeps evolving. When one style gets a bit stale a bunch of producers react to it and start something completely different and new. It's always changing and no other genre of music has kept my interest for so long.
