Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I am a bombay born DJ and Producer, currently based out of Rome. I started playing music while I was doing a solo backapacking trip in India, where I collected a lot of recordings of the Gypsies of the Thar desert of India. Which made me curious to experiment with those recordings .
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I was Born in India, partially raised in Spain and am now living in Italy. Hence, My sound carries a mysterious melange of these cultures I have grown up in. In my set transitions, you’re likely to hear everything from Argentine singer-songwriter Atahualpa Yupanqui to flamenco singer José Monje Cruz and Ethiopian-jazz artist Mulatu Astatke to a classic 70s bollywood track ending to a rajasthani folk song, not to forget some thumping techno. Blending these sounds with minimalism is what I thrive on now. I am very influenced by the mayan sounds, Indian percussions,to ruminative buleria.
What´s new right now?
I have my first Album called 'Trace Yourself', which is collaboration with 4 other electronic artists to be released in Feburary. Its a DNA-MUSIC Album , which is in collaboration with 4 other Berlin and Paris based Electronic Musicians, where we have converted DNA into Music. We tested our DNA and composed the tracks on basis of the results , creating an algorithm of each unique results in the form of contemporary electronic sounds yet leaving traces of our roots in the form of a track, which is our interpretation of our DNA results . It's almost posing the question : What does your DNA sound like?
