Read the T*Scotia Interview below and share it on social media.
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
T*Scotia also known as Terry Scotland was born in the city of Edinburgh in 1994. Growing up surrounded with a diverse taste in music she quickly grew the roots to her love for music and through the years developed her production skills by herself learning hands on through YouTube and self taught herself everything she knows in EDM music production.
T*Scotia got her first residential club DJ spot at Cafe Habana in Edinburgh which opened up a various range of opportunities for her,
After strong determination she now runs her own new event brand called Circuit Events which hosts nights for upcoming producers/DJ's some with experience, some with no experience to help them showcase their productions and is now becoming a fast rising platform for networking between producers, DJ's, Club owners and record labels in the UK.
As an upcoming artist in a small city it hasn't been easy, as most events are 90% men she fought hard to become known among friends, family friends of friends and now the general public ultimately building a well known reputation in the music scene for her heavy dance drops, low bass and the positive vibes whilst performing to her crowds.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
T*Scotia's biggest influences were the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Astrix, DV&LM, Will Sparks and Headhunterz.
Having so many different DJ's as influences helped with shaping her talent in knowing what works for what crowd, As a festival goer she discovered a range of genre's and thought of a great idea of blending them all together.
Starting from trance or Psy-Trance as she feels that is the genre that connects most with its fans she picked up the amazing structure for her tracks that catches your attention, then to Progressive / Electro T*Scotia adapted her melodies and managed to find a way to blend the two genre's together then finally in to Techno where she ventured to create the bass behind her tracks, the the final element of bounce which adds to the energy even more and this is what influenced her new upcoming album (TBA).
What´s new right now?
Right now T*Scotia is working with a range of organizers and artists to build her brand with her fellow DJ Kill Kennedy, between them they run Circuit Events and Circuit Audio for recording, ultimately the goal is to start teaching those who do not have the building blocks they need to be able to achieve a future in production and performances and get the new people in the music scene in touch with people who have been involved in the industry for years, the monthly event is held at the Banshee Labyrinth on the first Thursday of each month 8PM-3AM, Come Along its free!
T*Scotia's latest track is called "Metamorphisis" Featuring an upcoming local rapper Deficit UK, Which is now available to buy/stream on popular platforms like Spotify, Pandora, iTunes and apple music.
The track was influenced to create a new perspective on dance music, with Deficit UK's amazing talent for his lyrics they were able to tell a great story but still get you jumping, give it a listen!
She will announce the name of her upcoming album in the coming months and is eager to work with various singers/rappers and producers to make it the best so far with "Circuit Records" be sure to keep an eye on her page for upcoming events and shows!

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
T*Scotia's number one tip on improving your production skills is know your genre's! once you can depict a structure of a track and what elements were used in that track at what time you will soon give yourself the skills you need to hear the fine details, try recreating a track you know so you get used to using Plugins etc.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?
The main thing is not to finish your tracks too quickly, we all get excited when making a great track and want people to hear it as soon as possible but these things take time, if one week your sat stuck on a track take a break from it, do something different and go back to it later on, Your music is better produced with fresh ears.
