Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hi there! I'm Tykos, a musician and music producer. I produce electronic music, more often than not melodic dubstep. My DAW of choice is FL 12.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years? Do you feel that changing tastes over years as artistic growth? ?

I remember very clearly as a toddler watching movies like Baby Mozart on repeat practically daily, and I would assume that sparked my affinity for music. After moving to where I live now, I took guitar lessons for multiple years before dropping that in favor of our schools concert band. During my eight years in that, I played Alto, Tenor, and Baritone Sax, the literature which we played in class being a source of influence in my musical taste. My introduction to electronic music was through a Newgrounds artist under the alias of kid2will, and from there I was able to discover artists like Seven Lions, Au5, Savant, among many others who eventually inspired me to start creating my own music.

What´s new right now?

Right now I have a couple of releases that both have variations on what I normally finish writing and I'm really excited to put out those new facets of my production skills. Aside from that, I'm moving to college very soon and am hoping that my schedule and daily life there will be conducive to my expansion back into streaming on Twitch and will also allow me to utilize my YouTube more often!

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

Not keeping a larger core network of other producers and friends. I've been able to grow a set of close friends over time, but extending yourself out into groups of people who you think are far better than you believe yourself to be will make you both consciously and unconsciously force yourself to grow to their standard. Having those kind of people in your life will help you become the artist you have the potential to be.

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

Actually finishing songs. It's very hard for me to keep a musical concept for a song within my head for too long, plus I very often keep starting new ideas. I haven't overcome it, but the only real solution I have for it is to keep writing music and pushing myself to expand on musical ideas within my songs so that I can always be getting better at what I do.
