Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hello everyone! My name is Urza, and I'm a bass music DJ from Louisville, KY. I'm a dubstep junkie with a trance heart.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My influences come from a childhood listening to rock and rap, and I feel like I incorporate those elements well into my live performances. I love crazy guitar riffs and deep hip hop bass lines.

As far as my tastes changing over time, I've always been a bass music fan, but when I started playing music live I originally played house music. As I have grown more comfortable, I've added more and more dubstep and trap to my live sets to the point where I play them almost exclusively. I do enjoy the chance to play those throwback sets when I can.

What´s new right now?

The newest thing in my musical journey is learning to produce. I'm still very far from anything that I feel would be release worthy, but I'm getting there.

I also have one show in the future, a back to back set with my friend Dante at the Planet Bar here in Louisville, KY on November 24. There is a special guest set from a big name in the bass music community, but I can't comment on who that is.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

My biggest idol is Excision. I was introduced to his music by my wife, who sent me his Existence VIP. Then I heard X Rated and I was hooked. My first major show I attended was his Executioner Tour stop in Louisville. I hope to attain his level of success one day- the custom visuals and stages and everything. My dream show would be playing at his festival Lost Lands.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

My biggest challenge lately has been beginning to produce. I'm a perfectionist, so it is really hard to hear music in my head and be unable to translate it to the computer.

How do you personally discover new music?

My favorite sources are twofold: Soundcloud and artist's live sets and recorded mixes. Soundcloud is absolutely my most valuable tool, their "station" function is amazing. Live sets are my other go to source, I love hearing a track live and using a track list to hunt it down.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

“Of course there are always times when you find a track and you have to immediately share it because it goes with a friend's playstyle or sound so well. But outside of that, I love to sit on tracks until I get a chance to play them live. I love seeing the look on the crowd's faces when I play some crazy unknown track.

We meet again in one year. What has changed?

My biggest goal is to release at least one track by the end of 2018. It seems easy enough in words, but I want to make sure it is as good as it can be before I release it.
