Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hey World it’s Vantum Noir. Born and Raised in NYC in a Jamaican family. I’m a recording artist, producer, songwriter, and DJ. Music has been in my life from the beginning as I learned piano as a child and then played trumpet in high school. During an internship, (like literally at the desk) I decided to embark upon a recording path. From then I released my first EP Pisces320, took a break, and came back last year releasing the most music I have ever capping off the year with the Mulatto Phoenix EP. 2018 is the year I release more projects and make my mark with my style so let’s go!!
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My main influences are dancehall DJ’s. Mavado is my favorite artist by far but Vybz Kartel is the best to me. And when I say best I mean greatest male recording artist of all time. His versatility and consistency has been unmatched as he’s been imprisoned for 5 years yet drops more music, good music at that, than any other artist dancehall or not right now. The only person I can think who comes close is Curren$y, who is my favorite rapper. I also view Kanye as a great influence on me in some ways. Lyrically I would definitely say Busta Rhymes, 90s Jay Z, and definitely A Tribe Called Quest, who I view as hometown heroes since I grew up in the same area as them.
What´s new right now?
My plan is to release an EP every month starting in January. As the year passes, you will see more music being released and even a video or two so stay tuned, 2018 will be massive!

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
Take breaks when you feel stuck. Listen to a reference track or two, get something to eat if you will, take yourself away from the work and get back to it in when it feels right.
