Vapor Rave

Read the Vapor Rave Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Born south of Chicago, now residing in Richmond, Virginia, Nate Stull (aka Vapor Rave) brings a unique twist on the electronic music scene combining the aestheics of vaporwave with modern bass music. Since being introduced to and inspired by artists such as Deadmau5, Daft Punk, and Skrillex at a young age, he's always had a deep love and passion for electronic music. His music career started at the age of 18 when he met his now best friend, Ross Sheehy (Subarashii), who welcomed him to the world of DJing by teaching him everything he knows. After only one short year from touching a mixer for the very first time, Nate Stull (Vapor Rave) is beginning to make moves around the DMV area, opening for artists including Virtual Riot, Barely Alive, and RaceCarBed.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

Early influences include Daft Punk, Deadmau5, and Skrillex. Over time, Nate Stull (Vapor Rave) began to be influenced by a broader spectrum of artists including Death Grips, Flux Pavilion, Knife Party, Plastician, and Vektron. The end result, a grungy twist on wave combining genres such as Deep/Bass House, Hip Hop, Trap, Dubstep, and Riddim with the naturally nostalgic, surreal vapor feel.

What´s new right now?

With remixes already released on SoundCloud and original ID's currently in the works, Nate Stull (Vapor Rave) can be found playing regular venue shows as well as occasional house shows around the Richmond, VA area! How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

Networking + Exposure + Talent + Patience = Gigs

Network: Stay involved and active in the scene. Try promoting for a local event planner or working as a stage hand.

Exposure: Get your name out there. Always introduce yourself not only as yourself, but also as your performer persona.

Talent: All the networking and exposure in the world can't land you gigs if you don't have any talent. Practice makes perfect.

Patience: Gigs aren't going to just be handed to you. Be patient. Keep grinding. Keep practicing. Keep networking. Gigs will come.
