Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I am Vibecalm. I am just a man that has been obsessed with music and its mystical powers since as far back as I can remember. What I do is use the vibrations in music to create feeling, emotion, and (heavy vibes) flow through every crowd I perform in front of. I have been on a spiritual journey, the same as all of us, and have learned many things in this lifetime. I believe anything is possible, and faith is like a super power. Through years and years of heavy meditation, I have learned what music truly has the potential to do. We are alive during a generation of change, revolution if you will. It can go one of two ways I see, as everything has a flip side. Yin and Yang, Good and Evil, etc. It is my dream to harness the power of music and bring unity to this World to ignite another Golden Age, or Renaissance. The World we experience is how we are all thinking it into existence at once. I would love to show with my music the power we have, to come together and make things happen we never before believed possible!
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My taste in music is still the same as it was the time I heard my very first note. I enjoy good music. Music you can feel. That has always remained true. This has also taught me that good music is not limited by genre. Looking back though I would have to say I have heavy hip-hop roots. Tupac was the first artist that just really got my attention. As I grew older though I started to recognize the difference between an artist and an idol. I wanted to be like Tupac, and Bob Marley. I enjoyed very much both of their music and felt some what tied to them. The legacy they left behind is just amazing to me. Now that I have gotten more into EDM in the past year or two, I would have to say my heaviest influencers are definitely Zeds Dead. I saw them live at Lights all Night in Dallas and it changed my life. They produce very elevating music. I have seen them a couple more times since then and I always feel them raising frequencies. I mean I just love so many different genres within the EDM scene like bass, drum and bass, deep house, trap, dubstep and artists like RL Grime, What So Not, Hippie Sabotage, and Tchami that I feel I am influenced by them all in a way. What I learn from seeing and hearing these artists really helped to shape and morph the Vibecalm sound.
What´s new right now?
I am currently working on a project for Vibecalm. It has been a couple years in the making now, while I still don't have a release date, I am looking to drop it n 2018. Definitely will want to stay tuned for it, will be my first EDM production. It will be titled "The Awakening." As for right now though. I am always playing in downtown Dallas. You can catch me at the Curtain Club, Poor Davids, and hopefully soon venues like the bomb factory and lizard lounge. I may end up DJing at some lit underground party or something you will either be at or hear about. haha Those are my favorite!
