Wolvsun

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My name is Wolvsun and i’m a Bass Music Producer & DJ from Miami Florida.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years? Do you feel that changing tastes over years as artistic growth? ?

Well it’s kinda a long road lol, It’s funny cause I started listening Electronic Dance Music when Tiesto was in his Trance years. It was later on throughout the years that i started listening other genres and then I found out of Pendulum, Dirtyphonics, 12 Planet, Infected Mushrooms, Excision on my first EDC experience in my hometown of Puerto Rico. Since then I’ve been following Rob Swire from Pendulum & Knife Party, Zomboy & Skrillex at the time and they have been the biggest influences in my life and they still are.

Before i used to play & make House music even though i was very open with any genre, but the most i was influence over the years was Dubstep. At the time I didn’t know how to make Dubstep so I started making Electro House music until i develop my skills and able to progress as a Music Producer so I can finally conquer the genre that i fell in love with.

Their were many ways i discovered new artist, most of them is me listening in the internet such as soundcloud, Facebook, Instagram, or google and even whenever had a chance to go to all of this festivals as well and the collaborations from many well known artist that allow me to discover more music from different artist with different styles & sounds.

What´s new right now?

Just recently finished my first Vocal Track and it’s also my first Melodic Dubstep track as well, so i’m very excited on this cause it’s something new from me that I haven’t tried at all and it just gives it can catch a bigger audience so i’m not just working on Dubstep but I’m also experimenting all the Subgenres from the Dubstep scene. That’s why I’m working very hard on making new music and being open to other genres in the bass music scene. I’m not just focusing on Dubstep, I’m also focusing many that I want to make such as more Melodic Dubstep, Drumstep, Riddim, Bass House, Hybrid Trap, and so on.

Absolutely, every month till the end of 2017 you’ll be expecting Wolvsun Music either released by me or by labels and/or blogs. When 2018 begins a new era of Wolvsun will begin, having bigger releases on bigger labels, that I can promise you. The next gig will be on my hometown in Puerto Rico where i’ll be headlining on a big music festival known as Dreamland Festival. I’m really excited since it’s my second year playing in the festival and this time theirs a bigger audience and bigger lineup.

As far for other shows, I’m not focusing on that, my main goal is just to focus primarily to my music and how to improve myself even more and find new ways or styles or sounds for my music. The shows will come later, once my music is really out their.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

My biggest mistake was not focusing on my music or my craft 100% when I started to becoming a producer. I basically started late in the game more or less and i was doing a lot of promotions, ticket sales & flyer distribution which it's good at first but it took a big portion of my free time that i could've spend it on just making music or mastering my craft. If would've dedicated more time on it, I could have been much more far ahead than what I am now. My tip to newcomers is just focus on your music, on your craft, make a lot of music, get better at it, master it, get your music out their, send it to blogs, labels, or channels. Everything else will fall into piece, trust me someone is definitely is listening to you, it's only a matter of time.

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

Well all of my gigs were between networking with random people on all shows, events and festivals. My tip is basically just be you and network with people, talk to everyone if you can cause you never know if that person might be the one that will get you all of your gigs.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

My biggest challenge for me was sound designing, it took a long time for me to overcome this cause on Bass Music you can't rely on presets like House do. It won't work cause your using a sound that's already been used by many people. I have nothing against presets, just don't have it as your main sound cause you're going be stuck and in order to be out their you have to sound design and create your own sound cause that's how it separates you from everyone.

I did overcome the challenge. So what happened is i talk to Nitti Gritti, his one of my best friends, about my situation and he introduce me to Adair and he told me he did Tutoring Sessions for anything that I need to improve my game. I jumped in right away and it was a great experience, he basically opened my mind and taught me how easy was sound designing. Now I just do it on a daily basis, and I still take his sessions once in a while to be even better at it.

How do you promote yourself? Do you have any specific promotion tips for other musicians?

I have a team now that does all of that, but before just promote it on all socials like Soundcloud, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat. Use hashtags in all of them that will definitely boost you and have bigger audience or creating a trend. Also if you're music is great, send it blogs and they will put it out with promo and everything. Try to avoid tagging everyone you know about your new release cause everyone will be annoyed for that and don't put it on comments for other peoples tracks nor put it on groups cause most of the time they don't appreciate that.

We meet again in one year. What has changed?

Hehe, well I don't know what's going to happen in the future, no one can predict it, but as far as I know i'm just going to continue focusing on my music and continue to get better at it. Just going to build a catalogue of music with the new sound & style that I'm developing now. As far as 2017, their will be Wolvsun music every month until the end of the year. I'm 100% confident that things will start to turn around in my favor by next year, with bigger audience, bigger releases, bigger labels I mean who knows maybe next year I will release my first EP on a Label or I will start having more gigs than usual. I don't know, I just have a gut feeling that next year everything will turn around in my favor. It's like the SHM track "Don't you worry child, see heaven got a plan for you", that's basically what I believe and always be good to yourself and to those surrounding you, good things happen to good people.
