Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hi, i'm Xenovolt, and i'm an electronic music producer and trap beatmaker.
I'm one of the founders of the ZERO collective, an Italian team of electronic music producers and also beatmakers.
I live in italy (unfortunately) despite my main inspiration in production being American, as i will explain later.
I've been producing for over six years, working under different aliases, but my definitive project will probably remain this.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My main influence on production came from Skrillex around 2011, it was the time i thought "in life i want to make electronic music"
I spent the following years trying to figure out how this world would work, using synthesizers and trying to get out with something that was an interesting bit.
Dubstep for me was the starting point.
This year i totally changed my style and my way of producing, from dubstep to music trap, mostly rappers bases, all this came out of the great influence that have had on me artists like Suicideboys, Ghostemane, Pouya , and other.

What´s new right now?

As a team we are working on many interesting things, as a personal project the ideas are really too many.
With ZERO we come up with a completely trap / hip hop album, produced by all team members, some of the best Italian producers.
The main voice of the album will be Scaglia, an Italian rapper based in Rome, a really talented boy who has caught our attention and you will soon hear it.
Personally I'm releasing and producing many singles every day, always with Scaglia, and the job satisfies me completely, in the trap i found my exact style and this is where i want to stay, it was a revolution for me.
If you love rap, American or Italian, follow us. i'm sure you will not regret it.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

As i say at the start, I'm a big fan of Skrillex, because thanks to him i've discovered this world.
His music had struck me at once, it was a new genre for me, it represented me, I was crazy.
My favorite artists are absolutely the suicideboys right now.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

My biggest mistake was to drop me down when i did not get the product i wanted.
Many times i fell down and stopped for weeks, sometimes for months.
Music production requires so much patience, but above all, so much willpower.
You have to believe in yourself and what you do, and the results sooner or later will come.

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

My main soundcloud strategy is to share my music as much as possible, especially through repost and likes.
Many people buy visualizations, like, repost, and this is WRONG.
Talk to friends, share your creations, but without spamming.
Spam is annoying, and people do not take it seriously.
Be always natural, be yourself.

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?

Writing good music.
Ahahaha, just kidding.
In the beginning i used a lot of facebook sponsorships, they helped me, and if they are well exploited they can come back very useful.
Then i realized that another very useful way to attract attention is to create a personal character.
If people can remember your appearance, they will also remember your music.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

My biggest goal remains to be able to communicate my emotions with music, always hoping for those who listen to the same feelings i have tried at the time of production.
I have had difficult times in my life, and some listeners seem to have noticed only by listening to the music itself, and i am very happy about it.
Another important goal is to increase the number of listeners of my music and to become bigger in this world, but this still requires a lot of work.

How do you personally discover new music?

I travel a lot for the various streaming services (soundcloud, spotify, youtube) and explore at least two hours a day discovering many new things.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

“I immediately call my friends for share the new stuff i discovered, ahah.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

You have to find out exactly what your style is.
I found myself in the trap and in the rap because often this genre gives you the opportunity to vent you into the problems of your life, and i needed it.
Once you find out what you want to create, get inspiration from the artists you like, but without copying it naturally!
Follow many tutorials on youtube, we all started like this, and are much more useful than it seems.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?

Often we block them during production, trying to add more elements that really do not serve.
Another mistake we often make is to start a project, leave it incomplete and start another one.
You have to work a track at a time, otherwise you lose the inspiration and you risk throwing a job that actually has some potential.
My advice is to make the best use of the available elements, using a lot of fantasy.
If you block, half an hour break, concentrate on something else, release your mind.
It must be fun, not a source of stress
