Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My name is Kolby Mann, I'm from Asheville, North Carolina, and I produce weird bass music. I've been at it for about 9 years now, and every year things have gotten much crazier and inspirational. I work with a few different groups of homies, First off my family in AVL The Undergrowth has been nothing but a blessing, and I've not only gained some awesome connections, but some of the best friends I've ever had. I also can't forget my homies over at Thazdope Records. Kevin Moore a.k.a Spankalicious picked me up after I met him at Pass the Good Music Festival last year, and half a year later took me across the country on my first tour, with some of my bestfriends. Gotta love the homies you make in this business <3

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years? Do you feel that changing tastes over years as artistic growth? ?

I'm influenced by a lot of different stuff, I've had so many music phases I almost forget what im into sometimes. Started with Rock and roll, Metal, shit like that, and from there I just kinda latched on to bass music. My dad was a pretty big deal in the house scene when i was young, and got me working with mixing and DAWs when i was real tiny, pretty much the main reason I love it so much. I started out HEAVILY into house music, but some how my style, and what I listen too has gotten darker and darker, and dirtier and dirtier. Its strange how my taste has progressed, but that underground style just can't be matched by anything else. When I'm looking for new tunes, and new artists, i typically don't tend to look for anyone huge. I've found some gold from cats with like 10 followers on soundcloud, and didnt realize they were as good as they are. The underground is important to me. I believe if we put more love into the underground, maybe the mainstream blazayblah will slow down a bit.

What´s new right now?

I've got a couple things going on, On September 5th my EP Concentrate drops on Thazdope records (9/5/17 is globday ? ) I'm gonna be at Pass the good music festival, The Sacred Wellness Experience, and I've got some support shows coming up that i'll be announcing on my facebook in a month or two. Stoked to have all these opportunities coming to my plate. I've also got the (RE) Mix Tape vol. 2 which features some remixes of some HUGE tunes. Pretty stoked to share ?

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

Not focusing on my mixing skills.

mixing is important.

without clean sounds, no matter how good you think it is, its still clipping.

Put a huge focus on that and you'll be gravy.

Just talking to people man, they typically come to me.
