Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

I’m a 26-year-old French DJ / Producer from Toulouse. I started producing music in 2012 just for fun. As I travelled a lot during the course of my studies (I have studied and lived in China for 6 months in 2014 and Peru for a year between 2015 & 2016 and lived 9 months in Hong Kong until May 2018), I didn’t focus that much on producing. It is only in 2017 that I got really into producing new tracks and buying new monitors, music software, VST… Though I was able to release on my own 2 Eps (“Alteration” in 2014 and “Dare” in early 2018). Back in France thus in June this year, I have been working on new track and was able to release a new EP “Asian Trip” with UK record label Deeplomatic Recordings (released on October 15th). I will also be releasing another EP probably in November or December with the Brazilian record label Valorize O Groove (release date to be announced soon).

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

A few years back, I used to listen a lot of progressive house (Deadmau5 in particular), Swedish house (Swedish House Mafia obviously) & drum & bass (Nesky memory lane for instance). After some years abroad and maybe because I grew older, I’m now looking for some chiller tracks or at least with a deep soul & emotional vibes in it. For instance, I can quote now Demuja, Sable Blanc, Quasar… I’m always on the lookout for new pearls so it takes me a lot of time before selecting a track to play in my sets.

What´s new right now?

I’m mixing almost every Friday night at Downtown Factory, a very cool restaurant/bar/club in Toulouse (my hometown in France). Let’s see what the future will be like …

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

I wanted to rush producing new tracks and sharing them to an audience. Unfortunately, when you’re not ready, your tracks won’t sound the way you think they sound. Take your time to understand how your music software works, how to fine-tune your mixing (compressor, EQ …) and after how to send demos to record labels that could potentially be interested in your music (think “step-by-step”).

How do you get gigs? Can you share any tips?

Roll up your sleeves and run into bars or clubs and go ask directly for the boss or manager and anybody that may give you the possibility to do a first “test”. If you’re doing great, they’re very likely to accept you for other gigs. Expect not to be paid until they think you’re ready as well.

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?

Create an account on as many social media channels as possible (normally : Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube) it will help you rank better when people search your artist name on Google. Post consistent content overtime (different from one social to another). For specific promotions, trust Facebook ads manager which is easy to use (you can do sponsored campaigns both on Facebook & Instagram right through this tool). Try to keep a balance between boosting posts and doing special promotions (boosting page likes for instance). If you don’t have any EP to be released, don’t waste your money in that and wait for when you’ll have one.

Do you have insights on how to grow your audience on soundcloud that you want to share with our audience?

It sounds stupid but that’s a fact. Focus on quality not quantity. The better you track is (and mastered, so expect to have a budget for that as it can seem expensive when you are starting making music). Put all your tracks on private and go find record labels. Send as many demos as you have great tracks, it will pay off after some time. Upload some free download tracks as well because you audience will just love it (quality track obviously).

How do you personally discover new music?

Either by sharing music with my friends, or looking for new tracks on Soundcloud, Bandcamp or Youtube, which are great websites I think to dig underground music.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

“It depends if I know whether or not they are likely to like it. I dig for so much music everyday I don’t want to bother them at some point…
