Read the Andre Adagio Interview below and share it on social media.
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hello readers! I am Andre Adagio.
I am a British DJ / Producer with an eclectic taste in all forms of dance music.
I have had an interesting journey in music so far, which I feel is slowly on the rise.
Most kids grow up wanting to be a Firefighter or Police Officer…. I have always wanted to be a Professional DJ (still a dream).
I started out playing Trance at house parties while I was still at school in the early to mid 2000's, producing mix tapes whenever I got new tracks (back then tapes were still a thing).
The initial rise of what I am now as Andre Adagio started when I was offered a weekly residency while I was living in Wales around 2007/2008, playing Hardstyle & Reverse Bass, that residency was a great learning experience, learning to read a crowd and interacting with the crowd in such small and intimate environments was amazing, especially when you drop a track that everyone knows and goes wild to is such a special feeling.
After that residency ended I moved back to England and took a few years off to start a career in the events industry, which is still going strong to this day.
Between 2012/2014 I started going to Hard House events and Legendary Tidy Weekenders, this is what lit the touch paper for a resurgence and change of direction in my music.
With a re-found love for music and this "new sound" of Hard House, I spent most of my free time (while I weren't working or partying) buying & mixing Hard House, through this period I was able to meet some fantastic people at some great events, this is also around the time that I discovered Soundcloud, which I used purely to share my mixes, I didn't really think of it as such a big platform to promote myself as I do now.
In August 2014 I was given the opportunity to play a Hard House set at my biggest gig to date with the help of Soundcloud and Facebook connections that i had made through the UK Hard House scene, at an event in The Netherlands, to this day it is the biggest and proudest achievement in my musical journey so far.
These days I cover a broad variety of music with my Andre Adagio presents Spektrum of Sound branded mixes.
My individual mixes away from my Spektrum of Sound mixes have recently started to sway back towards the Trance sound, I feel as though this is a natural progression, as I have never really embraced the sound which I am and always have been deeply passionate about.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My main influences haven't really changed over the years.
I think from being interested in music and especially dance music from a young age, I've pretty much stuck to the DJ's and artists that I look up to, there have been a few additions in recent years as my music has progressed through many styles, especially now as I start to find my own sound through producing my own music.
I started off following Tiesto, if a product had his name on it, I had to have it!
Some of the DJ's and artists that initially influenced me are:
Tiesto, Gouryella, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, Ayla, Chicane, Marc Et Claude, ATB, Alice DJ, Sash, BBE, Cosmic Gate, BT, Robert Miles, Signum & Darude.
As time has moved on I am still inspired by Tiesto, Gouryella, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, Signum & Darude.
With the additions of Armin van Buuren, Above and Beyond, Wolfgang Gartner, Solarstone, Dark Fusion, Menno de Jong, Jordan Suckley, Umek, Laid Back Luke, Kutski, Andy Whitby, Technikal, Daniel "Billy" Bunter, Slipmatt, Gammer, DJ Thera, Pulsatorz, Angerfist, Da Tweekaz, plus a few more that I can't think of, off the top of my head.
I think my taste did change with the varying styles i used to play, but i guess everything comes full circle in the end, which is probably why I've gone back to my roots and Trance.
What´s new right now?
Where do I start?
There is so much going on at the moment!
(There are a few Exclusives** in here that aren't public knowledge yet!)
Lets start with Mixes:
**My Andre Adagio presents Spektrum of Sound branded mixes, are making a more frequent come back at some point this year (2018), the frequency and time frame haven't been set in stone yet, but are going to be a main stay in my content output moving forward.
**If you enjoy dance music of the harder variety (Hard Dance to Hardstyle), keep your eyes open for my Spektrum of Sound Black mixes!!
**Andre Adagio specific mixes are moving more towards the Trance sound, with a new mix in the initial track sourcing phase, I am really looking forward to getting this new sound out there!
Next up, Production:
Over the last year I have started producing my own music.
This week (starting 19th February 2018) I released my EP "6 Months In A Year" on Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/andre-adagio/sets/6-months-in-a-year-ep).
I initially wanted to release my EP "6 Months In A Year" at the end of 2017 but I felt that the sound wasn't quite right and the tracks weren't ready, so I did some re-working and felt happy enough to release it this week.
The initial support of this project across all of my social media platforms on release has been amazing!
It has definitely made the 6 months I spent working on it worth while, massive thanks to everyone who has been part of this project!
** "6 Months In A Year" is just the start of things to come production wise, I have another EP planned for release this year along with more tracks and more projects that are currently in the pipeline.
I am very optimistic on the direction my productions are going at the moment!
Content:
**So along with my Mixes & Production I will be venturing into YouTube!
I am currently working on my first YouTube Project, which should be out at the start of next month (March 2018)
To keep track of what I'm up to and what's coming next, I always post teasers to my Instagram Profile first
& then to my Facebook Page!

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?
Social media!
Biggest advantage of this technological age we live in.
Figure out which social media platform works best for you, if not, use them all and keep using them to share your thoughts, productions & mixes.
1 thing many people dont do enough is cross platform social media sharing.
e.g. Share your Twitter post on Facebook, share your latest Instagram post on Twitter etc. the same with all other outlets, share around every platform you are on, different people use different platforms and wont follow you on all, maybe just the 1.

Do you have insights on how to grow your audience on soundcloud that you want to share with our audience?
Share your page across every social media platform you have an account on.
Business cards are a great old fashioned way for exposure.
Create a QR code which you scan that takes the person scanning it straight to your Soundcloud Page.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
Balancing a full time job working all over the UK and keeping my music up to date and content readily available!
I've learnt recently to plan ahead and plan your content around certain periods.

How do you personally discover new music?
I would usually sit for hours on a Sunday nursing a hangover scrawling through Soundcloud to find new music and artists, i still do to this day.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?
“If i found new music or a new artist i would like and share their content on my Soundcloud page.
I would also look at including their credits & links on a mix that i had included their tracks on.
