Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I am a musician, producer and DJ from Scotland. The music I make is hopefully always evolving and changing but I guess the main themes would be its ambient, deep and melodic electronic music.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
My influences are varied. Bands I grew up on such as Fugazi and Public Image are still a huge influence in the fact they made sometimes strange, noisy discordant music but there was always this intense energy and intent behind it. I loved the fact they would almost never play it safe, I try take influence from that to this day. Bjork is someone I also love for that reason, the fact that every album seems entirely its own world unbound by genre and the way she could communicate these feelings of being in nature and the Icelandic landscape into something so intimate was pretty incredible. Then there was Burial. I had never heard anything like Untrue in my life, it opened up a whole new world of music like ambient, garage, future garage, dub and just this whole dimension of electronic music I hadn't really explored.
What´s new right now?
In terms of releases I have have two new EPs finished and coming out next month on Slime Recordings and Ultra Bass. These are me incorporating a lot more live instruments into my music and experimenting a little bit more. Im currently in the process of writing another EP and putting together a new live set so I should be out playing more gigs and testing some new music out this summer. Also I just recorded a guest mix for the Rebel Bass Blog featuring some upcoming tracks I have coming out and other music I've been getting into recently.
