Read the Cookbeat Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My name is Tanya Markovich aka Cookbeat. I`m a self-taught female Hip Hop producer/Dj, content writer from Serbia, Europe. Born July, 8th, 1985. Besides music, I also do inspirational quote writing and smartphone photography. Last, I`m a certified Fitness Coach, with 18 years of natural/aesthetic/recreational bodybuilding and personal coaching experience.

But my main focus is music production and therefore I am constantly upgrading my knowledge and experience via various e-books and online tutorials. My music career started back in 2009 and within a year I published my first Mixtape titled "Fresh From The Kitchen" mastered by "OK Records". Later, many of my beats and Dj Mixes finished on couple radio stations, from local to German (like "Eldoradio") and my "Video Model" beat ended up getting a exclusive live play on USA radio station via Online Radio Station app.
In 2014, my instrumental "Concealed Essentiality" got the spot on "Femixeta 5.0" Mixtape, created by Belgrade organisation supporting female artists.
After that boom, I got myself connected with Ryan Leslie`s "Black Phoenix Beat Club" organisation and his personal managers, and get one beat send directly via email before the BPBC idea was even created. After three months of payed membership, I decided to quit and focus on upgrading my home studio and my producer knowledge and create my own online label. In the meantime, I continued to release new projects and another viral boom happened when I did a Mix/Remix cut of Dawin`s "Dessert" hit.
That went to 2.4 mil views on You Tube and it got me an You Tube Partnership Licence Agreement signed.
The "Dessert" was played on many dance competitions, turned into some crazy choreo routines which were performed live and some of them posted on You Tube too.
The next period of time gave me a short partnership with couple of audio engineers which didn`t get the chance to be sealed as a solid deal, but my online label "CoCo Beatz Music Group" came out of that breakup and I`m signing all of my projects to it.
2016, was devastated year for me personally due to a loss of a family member. And that off course had huuuge impact on my creativity, so it took me half a year to somehow barely get back to it.
Last year, that is 2017, I released 9 projects, 6 mixes, 4 beats and one collaboration project ("Sunset Horizon" feat. Dj Telly Tellz for the "Kickup Season 1" Mixtape).

My latest projects include "Power Plate And Fitness Studio SMI Mix – Holiday Edition" :

"New Years Eve Mix 2017-18":

And a laid back Trap instrumental "Ten Eleven":

I`m an FL Studio producer. And VDJ8 Dj. I own a home studio consisting of KRK Rokit 5s monitors, Behringer U-Phoria UMC202 audio interface, Samson SR850 refference phones, Lenovo Thinkpad X220, M-Audio Axiom 25 MIDI keyboard and Numark Mixtrack Dj Controller Deck.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

Well, my artist name came from one of the greatest female producers/MCs, Missy Elliott and her "Cookbook" album. That`s my first personal inspiration. I go back to my very first projects from time to time to reference with the latest. They help me because they are giving me both good and bad results. The good ones is that I get to reflect on my burst of inspirations from that exact moment and remember some of the cool arrangements or the samples I used. The bad side that shows perfectly is my beginner knowledge on the rest of the production matter, the mixing and mastering. And it gives me such a clear vision and inspire me to go even harder with each new day.
As for my taste… Well, it`s always been me. Meaning, I have always been the same. I been through many music phases, but I always stayed in Hip Hop. I love the old school and the 90s, but that has never been my true taste. Except the R`n`B. This genre always flamed my soul instantly.
But with new Era, and beginning of hybrid evolution of Hip Hop genre into Trap and R`n`Bass… Made my taste my artist definition. I do alternative type of Hip Hop with a slight taste of Pop, but I don`t like stereotyping in anything. And therefore I don`t like my beats sounding like anything else, specially not like I just came out of tutorial and made my arrangements and learned tricks exactly as given. I like to learn and apply the rules in my own shape. That`s the true model of an artist for me.
Don`t get me wrong. I like to switch my idea cravings from time to time. But I am heavily dedicated to my soulfood bites.

What´s new right now?

As mentioned my latest project "Ten Eleven" is available at my You Tube official, with a lovely audio visualizer and a cover art made by yours truly:

I have new projects yet to be released, but I`m taking my time with production tutorials.

I also accept any artist wanting to collaborate, singer, rapper, producer, dj, and female artists have huge advantage, because there are not too many lights available for us, and there are so many phenomenal creative women out there. From djs and producers, not to mention singers and MCs and super-intelligent engineers working their hearts off. I think that this deserves to get noticed as much as the male side of the hustle and talent.
