Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I started DJing in 2015 for a house party me and my friends threw at our place in Bangor, North Wales but i've always been a huge music fan since I was very young, playing the piano and saxophone while I was growing up and getting into dance music while I was a teenager, always trying to find new tracks that i could show my friends and unearthing old gems that might have been forgotten. After playing at my first couple of parties on a controller I really fell in love with playing music for people and began investing a large amount of my time to music, waking up my housemate's regularly mixing some early morning techno. Over the course of the last 2 years DJing has become something of an obsession and I basically am constantly listening to mixes and new tracks, Me and a couple of friends started our own events, production & streetwear company called Vibe. (www.facebook.com/Vibe.UKStreetwear) we began producing and playing at house parties and everyone who's been to said house parties say that they're the best put together house parties that they have been too so we must have been doing something right.
We play regularly in Bangor, North Wales including a 12 hour BYOB party at a egyptian shisha bar which we transformed into a space that wouldn't look out of place as a boutique stage at a festival and I was booked for a couple of festivals over the last summer in the U.K. including El Dorado and Electric Wave Festival where myself and Matty Cooper headlined the VIP stage on the first night. I've supported a range of artists in my time including: Weaver Bro's, Cirque Du Soul, TWOGOOD, DJ Yoda and Definition::
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
Probably have too many influences to name but some main ones would include people who were running underground events in Bangor before I started DJing as they gave me a platform to perform as well as gave me plenty of help and support while I was learning, these include Outside the Box & High Grade Grooves who always have a slot for me, and who play some of the most danceable music in north wales and deserve all the success they're getting at the moment.
Also want to thank Cirque Du Soul and the Weaver Bros for booking me for when they came to play in Bangor and then for their festival El Dorado, getting that first artist wristband was a definite milestone.
What´s new right now?
I recently began producing and my first disco track (https://soundcloud.com/george-gates-7/discos-a-feelin) has been featured on the Doubleu Youtube Channel: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxQ_EizXc9s), I have now become obsessed with Ableton so definitely keep an eye out for future productions from me.
Myself and the Vibe. crew will be moving to Liverpool this coming summer to expand our events so keep an eye out for some wild productions in the north west.
