Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hi there! I'm H/\rvey, I am based in Phoenix, AZ and am an interdisciplinary artist. I just graduated from Arizona State University with a BFA in Dance Performance. During my dance studies I began producing sound and vocal work outside of school. I've always loved creating music, I started as a vocalist in choir when I was super young then started learning guitar to have an instrument to sing with. If you could see my first performances for my friends with my shitty guitar you'd probably laugh, I basically just strummed the guitar for noise behind my voice and didn't know any real chords! Im laughing right now just thinking about it…. My real passion (aside from dance) has always been singing and songwriting, I am a vocalist at heart. I fell out of my singing/choir years when i was introduced to dance in high school and kind of went crazy with it till college. Actually, the first person to pull me back into the music world was a friend down the hall from my freshman year dorms at ASU! He really introduced me to the electronic side of music because he had a whole 'bedroom studio' setup for recording his rapping and I would hear him killing it down the hall. So I fell back in love with singing and songwriting and everyone in the dance program began to know me as the musician in the school of dance. I started producing sound scores for dance works and really loved seeing the similarities and differences between my dance and music creative processes. Aside from dance related music creations I loved creating collaboratively with producers online through soundcloud. Ive had the opportunity to work with some pretty awesome people such as ‘Late June’, ‘BABEL.’, ‘Elènne’, ‘Karma Rhythm’, etc. For me, working with others gives way to more creative possibilities and I thrive in collaborative environments no matter what medium of art i am working with (dance, photography, music, painting, etc). When I started getting more serious about my music I began thinking about music videos and live performances. I remember my first set opening for the band 'Beacon' and 'Natasha Kmeto'. It was in downtown Phoenix at Valley Bar. I was 20 and it was a 21+ show and they almost didn't let me back into the bar even though I was a performer! I made my set in a week, it was so thrown together but actually turned out pretty decent surprisingly! I just remember singing with my broken mic stand through a condenser mic, OH GOD! Regardless the show was great and landed me a record deal that got me to Austin, TX performing at South by Southwest. All my live performing reminded me why I loved creating art, I love sharing my creations and relating to other people. Since my live sets, I have been taking time to create more music and am waiting till i feel ready to perform live again. For now I have been focusing on my music videos, which really are dance films. I have created two dance films so far and am working on the third. I love intertwining my dance and music, it feels so good being able to see the final product and knowing how much effort and passion was put into it. I just wrapped up two new dance films for my music, one to my collab with Late June ‘Little Heart’ featuring my dancer and friend, Olivia Poulter, and the other to my collab with Elènne ‘Moving on’ featuring my dancer and friend, Brooke Indigo Harmon. I am very excited for the future, as I am moving to NY in the next 6 months and am stoked to be around an infinite amount of art and opportunity!

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

Honestly people ask me what genre I go for quite often and it's such a tough question because all the music I listen to is so different! This goes for the influencers too, I change what i am listening to often, however a few things have held true since day one. Ive always been drawn to chill slower vibey music and i love bass and texturey sounds. For example my song 'Deep Breathe' with Kurus or a current song im working on with YKWO, his textures are god like! I really enjoy listening to Menik and still haze, Rhye/Milosh is always a favorite too.

What´s new right now?

I am releasing an EP 'Skyline' with my creative partner Kyle Hoefer. We actually just submitted it everywhere today and it will be available to stream on all platforms Feb. 26.. so five days! Also the two music videos i mentioned are coming out soon!
