Read the JeyKey Interview below and share it on social media.
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
I am JeyKey.
I started making music on my phone about 3 years ago. I used an app called Music Maker Jam by MAGIX. Back then i was really into Dubstep and Trap, so I created those songs with some basic loops. Most of those songs are still on my SoundCloud, they don't sound very professional but i had fun making them.
You can find them there:

Almost 2 years ago i got FL Studio which was a revolution for me. Since then I kept experimenting and trying to find my "style". But recently I realized that I don't need a specific music style or genre. I just want to create art that expresses my dreamy ideas and emotions.
Art has always been an important part of my life; I also love to draw, take pictures and edit images. That's the best way for me to express myself.
To be more specific about my music:
I said that I don't have a specific genre but my music is mainly something around chill, electronic, experimental and beats. My latest song is something like a lo-fi beat:

I guess that's mainly everything important about who I am and what I do ^^
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
As I've mentioned earlier I was really into Dubstep first and then also Trap. But with the years my taste changed a bit and also expanded. I started appreciating more different music. I also started looking more into underground artists because most of them have such a unique and incredible style.
The most influential artists to my music are Clams Casino, ZES, Rustie, Lorn, Flume and XXYYXX. All of them make beautiful music, I recommend checking them out if you're more into the non-mainstream spectrum of music.
There are many more artists I take inspiration from. Most of the artists signed under Surreal Recordings and artists like Alon Mor are such.
What´s new right now?
I've shared the SoundCloud link to my latest song "Indigo" in the first question. I didn't have much time to create anything new the last few months and won't have much time in the next time.
I'm really happy that I found some time for that song and hopefully I can spend more time on improving my quality. For me quality comes before quantity so it's not certain what will come in the future. I won't stop creating art though; if I'm not producing then I usually draw (or I study for school, but drawing is more fun).
If you want to be up to date with my stuff you can follow me on social media which should be linked somewhere below this interview.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
It's a mistake to not being self conscious about your music. Even if you knew that your music doesn't sound good, you still need opinions on why it doesn't sound good and what to improve. Share your music with as many people as possible.

Do you have good promotion tips for other musicians?
Friends are a great tool to get your music heard by more people. Tell your friends about your music and ask them if they could share it with more friends. Also sharing your stuff on many different social networks can be helpful.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
Challenges have been time and creativity recently. I'm still attending school so I don't have much time to produce music daily. Creativity has been a problem in the last few months too but now I'm at a creative high again.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
Experiment, try different things, break out of your comfort zone. You need to understand what you're creating if you want it to sound good! There are also many great tutorials on YouTube ^^

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?
I'm one of those people too. Work on more than one song so you don't get bored or just produce short songs and slowly produce longer ones.

We meet again in one year. What has changed?
In one year I'll almost be done with school. I will probably have improved as an artist and as a person. I'll keep experimenting as long as I create art. Who knows, maybe I'll even grow my "fanbase" ^^
