Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
My name is Jon Powers and i have been in the DJ game for about 11 years now, starting out at simple house parties then moving my way into the club scene, now playing big local shows and festivals all around Alberta. I have always had a passion for music but as a teen and watching legends like Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren spin tracks on vinyl back in that time, really is what got me into mixing electronic music.
The main genre that i started off with was big room progressive but over the years of opening for many types of shows, I have learned to play a mixture of bass/top40/trap/house genres. I believe if your passionate about the music your playing the crowd will always react in a positive way and when you have a good vibe going, it just makes the overall night that much better.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
With the raise of EDM music over the past 10 years, my inspiration and commitment has been up and down. But by being involved in the club scene for the past 4 years, I feel that most of my creativity has come out lately and it shows in my sets/edits that I create. By opening for a lot of different genre type shows, I have come to appreciate all types of genres and the amazing producers who are out there hustling there music.
What´s new right now?
Currently I am working on getting signed by a well known label company, and just trying to get out there and play local shows.
With some positive feedback I would start making monthly podcast again and continue to do my mini mix series. I would love for my mixcloud/soundcloud fan base to grow and simply just get the mixes/edits I mix get heard!

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?
Hardwell is one of my biggest inspirations and the first time I saw him play live at ultra music festival really turned me into a superfan.
The way Hardwell builds his sets and the energy he can give off is exactly the same that I try when I create a set, my friends have mistaken my sets for some big name dj not thinking it was my work, which always makes me smile knowing it can pass as good music to most.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
Don't aim for the stars right away, if you work hard and show your commitment good things will come to you. If you walk around thinking that you should play every show in front of thousands of people, that will never happen. you got to work your way up to the bigger shows and experience is gold.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
I find my biggest challenge is not finishing a edit that I start but never get round to finishing it. or when making a set list of tracks that I really would like to play, but musically don't work together, it gets frustrating and makes me not want to spend the hours to find the one or two tracks it takes to bring the set together.
