Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
Hi! My name is William Hobbs, better known on the internet as KOTH_Krunch. I make bass-heavy, sound-design-centered beats on SoundCloud.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
I got into electronic music about a year and a half ago, when I started listening to artists like deadmau5 and Noisia (who are still major influences on my sound). Eventually, I started exploring a wider variety of genres on SoundCloud, some of my favorites being Bleep Bloop, Tsuruda, and luupy.

What´s new right now?
I have a track on the upcoming [SUS] Tape 4 from [SUS] Collective, my previous release through them being my most popular song.

After that, I have an EP coming out, also through [SUS]. I plan to start doing shows at some point, once I figure out what exactly I'm going to do.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?
I don't know if I've had one particularly huge mistake, but several small mistakes come to mind. Like mixing at -6db and then not bringing it back up to 0 when I was done (which I only recently figured out that I should do), or back when I first started making songs, I uploaded them to YouTube. That was bad for two reasons: 1, It's nearly impossible to spring up from nothing on YouTube these days, especially with something like electronic music, so I was met with a lot of disappointment. 2, Youtube severely reduced the sound quality of my tracks. I know SoundCloud does that too, but it's barely noticeable, unless you're an audiophile.

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
I'm working on a remix for my buddy Sleepwreck of his track Endoplasmic Reticulum, and I had the mix great until I added a bass, and then IT RUINED EVERYTHING. I have tried so hard to get it to sound right, and nothing works. I think today I might have gotten pretty close, but I still have a long way to go.

How do you personally discover new music?
Through my stream on SoundCloud, occasionally through YouTube. Going and looking for new music doesn't work for me that well, especially on YouTube. I usually get enough exposure to new artists through people that I'm following reposting things that I don't really have a need to specifically look for them.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?
“I don't have friends.
Just kidding. But I don't have any friends who are into the kind of music that I am. I'm sure that will change in the future though. The only people who I "know" who like that kind of music are the producers I know through SoundCloud, who likely are hearing a lot of the same tracks as I am through their own stream.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?
Create a reliable workflow for yourself and learn the layout and hotkeys of your DAW, so that when you want to make a song, you can simply go through the motions on the technical part, and experiment and try new things in areas that suit that approach, such as sound design.

What is your best tip for those who struggle with finishing their tracks?
It's different for everybody. Hell, I have trouble finding consistency for myself. The biggest thing is to take breaks. Sometimes that can mean working on a different track, but that could also lead to a different track, and another, and another, and so on and so forth. So, if you find yourself not just feeling like the track isn't working, but that you aren't feeling like producing, then take a break from it entirely. Listen to your body as well. Don't forget to stay hydrated, and eat if you're spending a long day in the studio. When you come back, if you still don't feel like working on it, then you could try another one. Usually for things like mixing, it's a good idea to sleep on it anyway, and come back with a fresh pair of ears.
