Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
My name is Kyle Corum. I'm a recording artist/rapper originally from Oldham County Kentucky, but am now based in the Chicagoland area. I am originally from Oldham County Kentucky, but am no based in the Chicagoland area. I've been releasing music for about 3 years. My main genre is rap, but Spotify put one of my songs on their "Alternative Rap" playlists so I guess you could say its not the cliche rap giving the genre a bad name. I really want to stay independent the whole way up for many reasons, but I guess the biggest is I need to be my own boss and have the final verdict with decisions effecting my life. How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
The funny thing is that I really didn't like rap until my sophomore year of high school. I grew up listening to a lot of indie/alternative like Modest mouse, Brand New, The Shins, and more. The local scene was all about hardcore music so naturally as an angst filled punk kid I was enticed but that aggressive music, and now a couple of the original people have culminated into some very special bands like Knocked Loose, and Greyhaven. Now I listen to mostly underground artists because the content is typically better. I'd rather hear about "This is what I'm working for, and this is why I need to do it" rather than "Now I got this, check me do this." I would say my biggest influence in rap has been King Los. Nothing but bars from that man.
What´s new right now?
Ive worked out a Multi-Media contract with a crazy productive Chicago based freelance agent, Jake Gissler. This means much more Video and Picture content documenting the rise of my work this year. I'm recording exclusively at Honey Jam Records in the West Loop of Chicago for all of my projects and singles. I'm sitting on A LOT of music that you will hear more of as it starts to warm up. if you would like to show support I have music available for purchase on iTunes or add my music to your Apple Music/Spotify.
