Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Hello!
I'm a 15 year old producer from a little village in the Netherlands. I'm making music pretty much all of my life starting with drums. I tought myself how to play the piano and I have learned to play the trombone too. The 'music instrument' I love most is my laptop though. I have been interested in producing music since I saw the pictures of Martin Garrix, Hardwell and all the other dj's while they were preforming and that really inspired me to do that too. Now about 3 years later I feel like I have progressed.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My main influence has always been Martin Garrix. It amazed me how someone his age could achieve something like that. It was something for me to look up too. The first style I really loved was progressive house. I've produced that style for about two years.

This track called rogue is a track I released a little over a year ago and it really pictures my style of the first two years in my producing career. After that track my style choices started to change. I already loved future bass and the melodic trap-ish genres but I started to produce them too. Future bass is the style I love to produce most at the moment. My creative mind is really set to that genre. Most of the time when I sit behind the piano and have a chord progression or melody in my head it becomes a future bass track. Most of those melodies eventually end in only a midi file but some do jump out and those few eventually become a track. The latest future bass track I did was a remix for Mike Williams and Dastic's track: you and I. Which was a track I loved to produce.

What´s new right now?

To be honest my gigs are still just in my home town for now. I'm especially busy with producing for now. I have a really amazing track coming up with a amazing singer. I really look forward to releasing it but unfortunately we don't have a release date set. But if you keep checking my soundcloud and my instagram you'll hear when it gets released. I might even consider giving it away as a free download if you send me a personal message ;).

What has been your biggest challenge right now? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

I think what I'm facing is a big challenge for most small producers. Publicity. Publicity is so hard to get mainly because a lot of people are making music and have the same goal. I used to be quite shy about what I was doing because I was afraid people would react bad to it. Lately I've ghost produced a track for friends of mine and I have had so many friends come to me saying: 'Is that really you who made that? That sounds amazing!' . Such comments make my day and because of that I'm telling more people about what I'm doing most of my spare time. But your circle of friends won't get you to the lables and the radio shows. To reach that is really what I, and probably everyone wants. But it's hard.

How do you personally discover new music?

I love to listen to spotify playlists of the bigger artists. My biggest musical inspiration comes from 'the martin garrix show' a playlist by martin garrix ofcourse. I select the tracks I like from that playlist and some other and that collection becomes my playlist. When someone asks me what type of music I listen I usually answer with: You'll probably think it's weired music. But it turns out a lot of people I know actually like the music I like to listen to and like to create so thats great for me! Sometimes I have an idea which is something totally new in a style but to be honest I'm afraid to get a bad response out of it and because I'm not a good sound designer I usually can't really get to sound those idea's like I want to.

Once you discovered new music, do you tell others about the new music/artist you discovered? If yes, how exactly?

“When I have created an idea which sounds unique to me I first try to find sounds that'll fit which is the hardest part. When I have something I usually send a short snapchat video to my friends to see their response and if they like it I continue the project. I sometimes share an idea with other producers in the form of a collab when I think I can't get the full potential out of the track.

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

What helped me a lot is whatching youtube video's and playing around with templates people made. Don't copy them but try to learn what they have done. What I never did though is listening to rules. People say there are EQ rules etc. but my one rule is: If it sounds good, it sounds good. I for example use all sorts of plugins where they aren't suposed to be used. Edit a clap with vocal editing plugins for example. It gives you unique sounds and it can sound really good. So just play around and listen until it sounds good to your ears.

We meet again in one year. What has changed?

I hope I'll be able to say to you that I have released a track on a big lable and my tracks are all over the radio shows. But to be reallisic, I hope that with in a year I will be able to meet amazing musicians to work with or even just talk with. I set a goal for 2018 which was: get more than 4000 plays on one track but that goal has already been reached. Let's set a new goal now then, let's go for 15000 total soundcloud plays at the end of this year!
