Michael Berg

Read the Michael Berg Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Michael Berg is an acoustic solo musician based out of Philadelphia. The artist composes new wave tunes through the implementation of instrumentation. A multitude of heavy hitting melodies and rhythms are put on full display, creating an enjoyable sonic experience for the listener. Michael graduated from Temple University in the Spring of 2016. He pursued a degree in Finance, while also continuing to work on his craft in the studio. Now Michael works full time dealing with Mutual Fund investments. However for the moment, he's just kicking back, and he wants you to as well. Enjoy the tune!

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

Influences? You could say- The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Nas, Common, Nirvana, Talking Heads, Billy Joel, Marvin Gaye, Sublime, Rickie Lee Jones, Eminem. Influences always change. It's good to force yourself to dive into full albums of new artists. New artists that people come across, seem to have a natural pull to ones own interests. I find myself liking that one new artist more often than not. Otherwise it's just not right, and it never would have grabbed my attention to begin with. There's a line there.

What´s new right now?

New song "Fire On The Mountain!" Now available on both Soundcloud and Youtube! Page name: Michael Berg. All music originally recorded by Michael Berg. The track remains true to the cool groove of the Grateful Dead's 1978 original cut, while also mixing in other musical styles and sounds. Enjoy the sonic experience for yourself now! Go listen!

What is your number one tip to improve your music production or songwriting skills?

It is important to study other great artists and the sound they were able to capture in the studio. You need to be fully aware of your recording environment and the kind of acoustics that environment is able to produce. You would like to let the recording process come to you naturally, by not forcing anything when the juices aren't flowing. However it is also important to understand that creating music sometimes will feel like a job, like a burden. This phase you need to embrace. This is the phase where you will grow the most as an artist. Where you find yourself creating under circumstances that aren't ideal.
