Read the Shugga Interview below and share it on social media.

Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

Namaste to everyone, My Name is Shugga I am a Producer/Dj from Cape Town South Africa, I create what I believe to be my own interpretation of ethereal and spiritual techno, I do also produce downtempo trip hop and chillstep under the alias 'Akasha Music'.
I have been involved in the club and festival circuit for a few years now and have had the privilege of playing along side some major international players, I am constantly learning and absorbing the creative energy of my surroundings, and my passion for the intersection of art and technology has led to tinkering with homemade synthesizers and development of something I hope will move and inspire people.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

I find influences absolutely everywhere within my daily life and my creativity expresses itself in many mediums, from the art and music shows I frequent to the eclectic group of people and collaborators I surround myself with, and of coarse massive amounts of meditation.
I was raised be musical parents who had an amazing rock and new wave record collection, this prompted me to learn to play the bass guitar and write lyrics when I was a lot younger 'haha' but over the years my tastes in instruments and music changed, along with my perceptions of music and sound, I now love the freedom that technology and electronic music has created for artists, it gives everyone the possibility to create and influence, I can still find pieces of my old self within my new creations, people carry there past with there present.

tastes will change over time as we all do, its the only constant, and I do believe a lot people are apprehensive of that but it is definitely something that should be embraced, accept the new flow of creativity and influence and use it as a tool for growth, and never stop experimenting it will keep you and your sound fresh and moving it forwards.

Discover yourself within your art and break your own boundaries.

What´s new right now?

I am currently working on an interesting new project called 'CYMATIC SESSIONS' this is an event company aimed at artistic community collaboration and development, it offers a platform for all kinds of creatives to come together, collaborate and share ideas as well as an opportunity for those who have not yet had the chance to perform within the live electronic music scene. These events are also very visual based with Art and video performance, we wish to create an intimate space of creativity and a sense of unity amongst artists of all kinds,'CYMATIC SESSIONS' will also be doing live CYMASCOPE demonstrations and educating the public on the visual aspect of sound and resonance and how it pertains to human existence and interaction with our surroundings, these episodes will be happening once a month at Nomad bar and bistro in Cape Town CBD for more information please find us on facebook.

I am also working on starting a record Label called 'Akasha records' this will be a platform for artists with ethereal, spiritual and eclectic tastes to showcase their work. but that will only be happening a bit later on in 2018. more info to follow ?

other than that expect a few releases from myself and on the powerful and innovative South African label 'Sleepwalker Records' run by two highly talented individuals Jimmy Chronic and Alex Leeu.
