Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?

My name is +Stayc, formerly known as Stayc Johnson. I am an American hip hop artist & producer that's in the process of changing and creating a new sound for myself and becoming a more alternative artist. Also the owner of the independent record label, THMH Recordings, where I have a few amazing artists on the roster such as FatlipCam, JuddaCal & Tay de Ali. Just a creative individual that lets my wild mind lead me to make great music.

How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?

My influences were always the artists I've felt completed me in some kind of way. For a long time, it was all the people my grandparents would play around the house. Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Funkadelic, Parliament, Bootsy Collins, Stevie Wonder, etc. Then I looked up to the likings of Jay-Z, Nas, Common, Talib Kweli or a Mos Def. It was because being from the south, the way they talked and how smart they sounded to me, I just really gravitated to it more and always held that to be the standard of how I'd like to be as an artist. Of course, being from the south I was very influenced by Outkast and it was just something about them that connected so much more and the little sentiments of goofiness with how they said things or sung just sparked the idea to just be myself within my music. That lead me to discover more artists that gave me that same kind of feeling of freedom of self within the music and it started to become myself being influenced by Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Tyler, the Creator, Pharrell, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar. To even me stepping outside the norm and finding other artists such as Marika Hackman, Tame Impala, Fleetwood Mac, Jimi Hendrix, Gus Dapperton, Mac Demarco, etc. There's just so many influences that've helped me shape myself as an artist.

What´s new right now?

At this moment I'm getting ready to finally start releasing new material geared towards my new direction. I should be releasing a pair of new singles very soon, along with a 6-track EP coming shortly after. All to get the momentum going for when I release my new album in a few months. I don't know the name just yet but I can say soon as I find that out it will be posted and marketed everywhere.

So just at the moment stay tuned as we're dropping singles, music videos, merch, and maybe a few private gigs as we're doing our best to set up a tour towards the summer.

Are you a superfan of anyone? How did you become a superfan? Do you remember how you become a fan and what turned you into super fan? Have you ever thought about why you´re such a fan?

Pharrell.
I've become a super fan by just really getting into the music so much. My production style, how I see music and create music is in the same vein.

What was the biggest mistake you made when you started making music and what would be the number one tip you could give to a newcomer musician?

Getting started and not fully understanding exactly how to get paid for my passion.
Before you get a job you make sure you're filling out your W-2 and all the information to get paid so your time is fairly compensated.
Please understand everything you need to fairly compensate from your creation. Understand your publishing, understand what it truly means to sign these contracts, etc. Just understand the business.

We meet again in one year. What has changed?

Big things for both parties. When I tell you I already see it, please believe.
Life is much different. Different actions are being taken to expand the opportunities for all artists to have a fair shot.
My plan has been mapped out for the last year that's coming to fruition this year. It's all about executing and within a year that will show how hard my execution has been.
