Read the WAMZ Interview below and share it on social media.
Please tell our readers who you are and what you do?
WAMZ is a music trio from Philadelphia, PA consisting of Taylor Burke, Jack Covert, and Tom Shetler. We blend modern progressive electronic with elements of old school funk and modern indie rock. We formed officially in 2017 and have spent the past year cultivating our sound into a unique style that falls somewhere between The Killers and Porter Robinson.
How would you describe your influences and how have they changed over the years?
We all came from different musical backgrounds and in a way we all brought a bit of our own styles together to form something distinct. Taylor and Jack come from a more traditional rock band setting, while Tom comes from an audio engineering standpoint. This allowed us to use live instrumentation, such as guitar and bass, alongside electronic elements. We draw our sound from a lot of different artists: the insane live performances of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the driving synths of Madeon, and the retro pop stylings of The 1975 all contribute to our sound.
What´s new right now?
After releasing a number of remixes and bootlegs on our Soundcloud profile, we are currently focusing our efforts on original material as well as playing more live shows.
